All Wenonah Canoes are handcrafted in their manufacturing facility on the banks of the Mississippi River in Southeast Minnesota. Each of their craftsmen pour dozens of hours of labor and decades of experience into each boat they deliver to their customers across the globe.
If your sporting plans call for a lot of gear, tackle, decoys, and a dog, the Kingfisher is your canoe. It's a great boat for catching sharks and snook in the no motor zones of the everglades or just taking the kids fishing for blue gills at the lake.
This recreational hull extremely stable and very comfortable for larger paddlers. You can easily get in and out with your waders on and there's no need to worry about stability when shooting out of this canoe. It's two feet longer than the Fisherman and has more capacity, but at 16 feet it's still easy to maneuver.
Features
Wenonah's Tuf-weave® material is an interwoven fabric made of 50% polyester and 50% fiberglass that out performs either material alone. The Tuf-weave® layup results in our most durable composite canoes. Tuf-weave® canoes offer improved impact resistance and are a great compromise between light weight, performance, and price.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Flex-Core construction?
Flex-Core construction uses Wenonah’s Tuf-weave® composite—a blend of fiberglass and polyester with a foam core—to create a canoe that balances durability, weight, and performance. It offers improved impact resistance while remaining lighter than many traditional recreational canoes.
How much does the Kingfisher Flex-Core weigh?
The Flex-Core version typically weighs around 55 pounds, making it durable while still manageable for loading and portaging.
Is the Kingfisher stable for beginners?
Yes. With a maximum width of about 40 inches, the Kingfisher is extremely stable and beginner-friendly, making it ideal for fishing, wildlife watching, and relaxed paddling.
Can the Kingfisher be paddled solo?
Yes. Although designed as a tandem canoe, many paddlers paddle it solo by sitting in the bow seat facing backward for better balance.
What activities is it best suited for?
The Kingfisher is popular for fishing, hunting, birdwatching, and recreational paddling, thanks to its stability and large interior space for gear.
How maneuverable is the Kingfisher?
With about 1.25 inches of rocker, the canoe turns easily while still maintaining decent tracking on lakes and slow rivers.
How much gear can it carry?
Its wide hull and spacious layout allow it to carry two paddlers plus substantial gear, including fishing equipment, decoys, or camping supplies.
How durable is the Flex-Core version?
The Flex-Core layup is Wenonah’s most durable composite option, offering strong impact resistance and long-term reliability while remaining lighter than many plastic canoes.
