SOTAR is a family run, custom whitewater inflatable boat manufacturer based in Merlin, Oregon in the USA. Every boat is built by hand and made one at a time. Started in 1980 and SOTAR is still flourishing 40 years later.
SOTAR’s specialty is giving white water sports lovers a boat that is custom designed to personal specifications. Color options are not the only options available. You can change design specs to fit the rivers you run and the specialized use of a raft, cataraft, or inflatable kayak.
The revolutionary Sotar Legend Cat tubes are anything but ordinary. The most popular size is 12'6". Ted Day with Payette River Equipment (our Idaho Rep for over 20 years) has tweaked and perfected the original 3-panel fairy shoe design over the last 10+ years, pushing SOTAR to build the ultimate big-water catboat.
The Legend tubes are designed for big drops, surpassing the challenge and outperforming any other cataraft in big technical water. All SOTAR Legend Catarafts are hand-built using our extremely tough and durable 40-ounce Urethane (Rezcoat) material with a 1500-denier base fabric. All SOTAR Inflatables are designed and manufactured one at a time. No other Inflatables are made with such personal care and attention.
