Why Buy From Light As Air Boats

Inflate your way to endless exploration with this durable and versatile Gumotex BARAKA 13′5″ Inflatable Canoe.

For 70 years, Gumotex have been perfecting the art of crafting inflatable kayaks that are as gentle on nature as they are on paddlers. Their kayaks are not just a product; they're a legacy of innovation and dedication to preserving the environment. Handcrafted with precision from natural rubber, each kayak is a testament to their commitment to sustainability. Gumotex Inflatable Kayak are designed to be lightweight, making them easy to pack and carry, whether you're heading out for a weekend adventure or an extended expedition.

Gumotex BARAKA is suitable for beginners. It has a stiff hull with a higher rocker, excellent rapids-clearing ability, stability and ease of turning. It is a 2- seater river canoe with a self-bailing bottom that can handle white water up to Gr. 3.

    Features

    ☑ NITRILON®
Material composition: high-strength PES fabric (1) with an outer synthetic rubber coating (2) and inner natural rubber blend coating (3). The material is highly resistant to abrasion, aging and UV light. Tensile strength min.3 000/3 000 N (sample 8 × 2 in). Minimum weight 27.13 oz/yd².

    ☑ IT’S EASY TO CARRY
Most of our boats are delivered in a waterproof backpack that you can throw over your shoulder and set out for an adventure. Now, that’s freedom. When compared to PVC, our rubberized boats can be packed into smaller dimensions, which you’re sure to appreciate since it won’t get in the way and you’ll save plenty of space.

☑ A hull adapted to rough water and big waves
A hull with particularly pronounced rocker adapted to white water and big waves.
The Baraka’s hull profile is horizontal over only 57% of its total length – the rest of the distance, i.e. two ends each 88 cm long, rises in a curve forming a significant “rocker” to reach a height of 60 cm at the tips. This explains the model’s ability to easily overcome steep, vertical water movements; large rollers and backwashes under weirs in rivers, big waves in lakes or at sea.
A further advantage when navigating in rough environments such as rocky rivers, marshes and vegetation-covered waters: the hull’s low torque, a short 234 cm horizontal section, makes the Baraka extremely manueverable: it turns quickly and easily at the slightest input.
    ☑ Considerable raft-like buoyancy
Sometimes called a “Canoe-Raft” by some professional service providers, the Baraka sits “like a bubble” on the water, with an extremely shallow draft when used by two paddlers without a heavy load. This advantage in “difficult” whitewater (cl. 4 and +) is explained by these two factors:
    a) A very large tubes-diameter (classic cylindrical): 33 cm
    b) The model’s width (10 cm greater than that of the Scout), as well as the width of its inflatable bottom, which extends under half the thickness of the sides, thus considerably increasing buoyancy.

☑ Adjustable paddler positions to modify the Baraka's center of gravity
The Baraka offers the possibility of adjusting the positions of the two paddlers to better balance the boat when navigation becomes technical. In the following cases:
    – Heavier bowman
    – Whitewater class 4 and +, with steep rapids, drops and falls (according to the skills of the crew!)
    – Heavier bow load
You can move your seats back 9 cm, which is significant for lifting the front of the boat, as shown in the two figures below (the movement of the thigh brace straps is not shown).
