The Exocet RS V5 AST 380 is the last version of our raceboard board. Even if the Exocet RS V5 AST 380 is the ideal weapon for raceboard races, it is nonetheless an ideal board for recreational use!
Given that most sailing days, whether recreational or competitive, feature winds below 15 knots, the primary challenge addressed by the RS V5 AST 380 is creating a board that is both accessible and effective for sailors of all skill levels.
We have been able to retain all the strengths of the previous generation while developing it to improve its performances in marginal conditions. The addition of flaps on the rear increases the planning surface and thus makes the board more efficient in light wind conditions, but also upwind. Downwind performances in medium to strong wind conditions is also improved!
The RS V5 AST 380 raceboard aims to provide an easy-to-handle, cost-effective solution that still delivers competitive performance, ensuring optimal sailing experiences for novices and experienced sailors alike in light to medium wind conditions.
Features
Instead of using an expensive carbon layup, the robust body of the RS V5 AST 380 is constructed with a monolithic build and full-wrap fiberglass rail band reinforcements to maintain necessary rigidity. Several T-stringers are introduced to preserve a fair amount of stiffness.
The nose of the board features a "scow" design, which helps prevent it from digging into the water when sailing upwind on the rail. This design also extends the board's straight outline further forward, which is crucial for maximizing performance in light wind conditions.
Opting for a pin tail makes the hull significantly more effective on the upwind course. While the lack of tail width might seem to hamper the RS V5 AST 380's reaching and downwind performance, positioning the fin significantly forward ensures the board maintains perfect "power" during these legs, providing the necessary drive and control.
Overall, the thoughtful design and features of the RS V5 AST 380 raceboard make it a versatile and effective choice for light to medium wind sailing, catering to a wide range of sailors and sailing conditions. The RS V5 AST 380 is registered with ISAF.

ADVANTAGE Even though the Exocet RS V5 AST 380 is the perfect weapon to compete in raceboarding events, it is still an ideal board for recreational use. The addition of flaps on the tail increases the planing area and makes the board more efficient in light wind conditions, but also upwind. The performance of the board downwind in medium to strong wind conditions is also improved. Thanks to their innovative shape, the Freewing will accompany you for a long time in your progression.
