On some waters, smaller is better. When talking about fitting a raft through tight spaces
THE LITTLE SHOALS RAFT shines.
Smith Fly has taken their beloved adjustable casting brace and hooked it up to the front of this smaller raft to give you the confidence to stand up and row straight down the chute without putting anyone face-first into the drink. No such gimmick reverse lean bar here, just good old fashioned bent aluminum tube keeping you casting all day long. This is the perfect raft for two people fishing all day or for sketchy distant put-ins where every ounce of weight counts.
If you only want to take one other person, this 2 person boat is the ticket. The Little Shoals is a scaled-down version of Smith Fly's popular three-person raft-The Big Shoals-but still has all the features everyone loves about the original.
Rafts with 12” diameter tubes tend to be that much easier to fall out of. For this reason, many have apprehension about fishing from the competitor's rigs on cold days with cold water. Not for the Little Shoals!
Flipping is also a problem that Smith Fly has taken care to resolve. The scuppered, self-bailing floor keeps you firmly seated on the water surface holding a little bit of water underneath the drop-stitched floor between the bottom fabric of the raft body and floor. This breaks the surface tension of the water and acts as a ballast to keep the raft sucked to the surface like glue. No tippy feeling and they’ve tried! No raft is totally flip proof, but if you put it on the right line and keep it punching through those waves, you won’t flip.

Really happy with it so far. Only got it on the water twice. Definitely a 2 person job to man handle it around. I bought it to row around with the kids on a small lake and it is great.
This is a great boat for the money, it is very durable and functional, spent 5 days drifting a large river the first time out. But we did float through some class 2 water with ease. I had no concerns for this little boat at all.
I love this boat. We used it a few times last summer and this summer. It is very good. We used it on a river and on several lakes. I use them just for a local maneuvering.
Fantastic boat. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I would highly recommend this to anyone needing a small portable raft. This boat spends all summer in the back of my truck for short notice fishing trips.
