I lived ~20 years in Austria and was introduced to the Czech Gumotex boats through Austrian river paddling. I bought my Gumotex Palava in Austria ~14 years ago. This boat has been all over the world with me, as it's easy to bring with me on short business trips and personal travel. I've paddled all over the alps, Japan, Hong Kong, the US west coast and the last bigger trip with the Palava (known here as the Innova "Vagabond") was an intense 1 month climbing expedition in Greenland where the boat was put through some pretty severe and constant usage. In other words, it is one tough vessel that is very versatile and mobile.
Alas, after 14 years of extraordinary wear and tear, my Gumotex has reached its limits and after several attempts to repair it, I came to the conclusion that it was time to retire the boat. This was a sad moment for me, as I can conceive of no better canoe to do the things I like to do, and getting a new boat sent from Europe would be very restrictive and expensive (I live in Oregon now). I was not too happy with any other Inflatable canoes/kayaks that were available on the American market and I was ready to give up when I discovered, over your website, and that Gumotex is sold as Innova in the US! I promptly placed my order for the "Baraka" which appears to have some new features that my previous canoe did not. I am very excited about the next decade-plus with this craft!
I offer this review/info in light of some comments I found during my search on the internet about Innova/Gumotex in the US, which apply some skepticism for an "unknown" brand and quality. I can assure anyone considering buying a similar craft that these boats are top quality and come from a very reputable manufacturer in Europe.
Regarding "Light as Air Boats" as a seller, I am very pleased with their quick order processing and commitment to customer service. The team quickly and personally addressed any questions/issues I had.
I bought this boat to take down the Truckee River in Reno NV. There are sections of white water throughout the city in that river and my friend and I who have no kayaking skill had a fantastic maiden voyage.
It's durable and can handle most of what you put it through. We've used it in Florida's cypress lakes, in the ocean and and in rivers.
We purchased this because we live in an apartment and drive a small car. It's easy to pack, set up and break down.
I absolutely love this Inflatable Canoe! It was super easy to set up and handled me at 235lbs along with my 50lb and 60lb dogs.
